About
Integrative Muscular Movement Technique® (IMMT) is a manual therapy technique using a combination of deep compression and stretch/counter stretch movements to restore functional range of motion, break up adhesions, and reduce pain within the musculoskeletal system. By working with the client's stretch reflex arc, nervous system and postural holding patterns, both immediate and long-term results can be achieved. Physiologic principles of connective tissue and the visco-elastic model of connective tissue application are used in conjunction with anatomical knowledge of the muscle insertions and actions. Proper body mechanics and leverage are used to perform the technique safely without harming the therapist or client. Bolstering is also applied to support the joint of the muscles being worked. All are essential for consistency of treatments. With the addition of cupping therapy added to the curriculum, it offers a whole new dimension of treatment. IMMT together with cupping therapy allows the therapist to approach the client's musculoskeletal issues with a compression, decompression and movement treatment that results in better overall results for the client.
